<p> <img alt=”Charlie Blake” src=”images/charlie_blake.jpg” style=”width: 200px; height: 280px; float: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;” /></p> <p> </p> <p data-mce-style=”text-align: justify;” style=”color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Tahoma, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 15.796875px; text-align: justify;”> <span data-mce-style=”color: #000000;” style=”color: rgb(0, 0, 0);”>For the second year running, Charlie Blake (U6W) has been short-listed in the <em>Guardian</em>/Amnesty International Young Human Rights Report of the Year competition. <span data-mce-style=”font-size: 10pt; font-family: ‘Arial’,’sans-serif’;” style=”font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;”>Over 2000 people from across the country took part in the competition and Charlie’s entry has made the top 10 in the Sixth Form Journalism category; this will be whittled down to a list of three entries and the writers of these pieces will be invited to attend a </span><span data-mce-style=”font-size: 10pt; font-family: ‘Arial’,’sans-serif’;” style=”font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;”>prestigious ceremony at Amnesty International’s headquarters in central London on 30 April when the winner will be announced.</span><span data-mce-style=”font-size: 12pt; font-family: ‘Times New Roman’,’serif’;” style=”font-size: 12pt; font-family: ‘Times New Roman’, serif;”> </span></span></p> <p data-mce-style=”text-align: justify;” style=”color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Tahoma, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 15.796875px; text-align: justify;”> <span data-mce-style=”color: #000000;” style=”color: rgb(0, 0, 0);”><span data-mce-style=”font-size: 10pt; font-family: ‘Tahoma’,’sans-serif’;” style=”font-size: 10pt; font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;”>Charlie decided to write his piece on the dumping of toxic waste in the sea off the Ivory Coast after reading about it on the Amnesty website. "Amnesty and Greenpeace released a report back in September after a three year investigation into the incident which I read through a couple of months ago. Given the scale of what happened I was surprised that I'd never heard about the incident before so I decided that I should write about it."
