Sixth Form Art Exhibition

Between Friday 9 and Monday 12 May, the art department held an exhibition of the work of our AS and A2 students at The View Gallery in Chingford.  The View, which is managed by the Corporation of London, is part of Epping Forest’s new visitor centre and as well as a gallery for local artists, houses a permanent exhibition detailing the history of Epping Forest.

The evening of Friday 9 was the Private View of the exhibition when the gallery was crowded with around 150 friends, parents, gallery owners, governors and teachers who all admired the paintings, art films and performances.  A lucky break in the weather permitted a glorious evening of sunshine basking over the glass-fronted gallery and into the courtyard.  Whilst they admired the incredible artwork against the spectacular scenery of the Forest, guests were serenaded by talented musicians from the School

The exhibition was open to the public until Monday 12 May.  Nicky Vetta, art teacher,  called the evening “a celebration of the artistic talent within the School.”  Arjun Robertson, one of the U6 whose work was on display, said that the evening was a great success and, “It was overwhelming to see our work on show; I received some many compliments.”   It was most gratifying for the art department and the students alike to hear so much encouragement and so many positive comments about their work.

For those who missed the exhibition, there will be a second opportunity to see the work, as well as that of our GCSE art students, on Thursday July from 5.00 – 7.00 pm.  This is just before the Summer Concert, so giving another evening of art and culture to be enjoyed by all.
